Terri Boroughs and Richard Schiller Obtain Defense Verdict – September 2017

Terri Boroughs and Richard Schiller successfully defended a general surgeon in a jury trial in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The allegations included a lack of informed consent and the performance of an alleged unnecessary laparoscopic colectomy. The defense maintained that the informed consent was appropriate and that the surgery was necessary due to the findings at the time of the Plaintiff’s colonoscopy procedure, also performed by the Defendant general surgeon. Plaintiffs sought damages in the amount of $160.000.00 including past medical bills, and past and future pain and suffering. After 45 minutes of deliberation, the jury returned a defense verdict for the Defendant general surgeon.
